20/Twelve | [EN] …so when you finally decide to search for “dubstep netlabels” on line, between other beatiful experiments – such as Planet Terror Records – now you find the “self proclaimed grandaddy of dubstep netlabels”, 20/Twelve Netaudio, showcasin’ “talents across the globe in the dubstep format”.  An interesting discovery – listen out to their releases, you’ll find that good dubstep isn’t just Skream & Benga.

AQuietBump | [EN] Based in southern Italy and launched in 2005, AQuietBump produces some of the most interesting dub & trip hop productions from this country. The musical range is wide open to ambient and hip hop sounds – and everything is freely downloadable under Creative Commons licenses. On Dubversity.org, you can find the Italian Dub Community Showcase they released in 2008.

Fresh Poulp Records | [EN] As they say, Fresh Poulp is french based “eclectic electronic music netlabel [...] sailing through dub, techno, electronica and drum’n'bass”. They released a beautiful dub compilation – available here – with various friends we already met (first of all: Dubzoic). Music selection is really high.

Giant Sounds | [EN] Started by producer Finn The Giant to promote independent heavyweight reggae music in Sweden and internationally, Giant Sounds stores mainly reggae/dub sounds, often freely downloadable from their site. Good stuff, as you can listen here.

Hyperdub Records | [EN] Hyperdub is a London-based record label, founded and run by Steve Goodman, spreadin’ out artists such as the label owner Kode9 (and The Spaceape), Pressure, LD, Burial. There’s a MySpace page, also to listen out the new stuff.

Planet Terror Records | [EN] I met this label through the great E.P. released by Titus Twelve, “Step Forward E.P.” sampling the well known (and loved) tune by Max Romeo. They’re based in Sheffield (U.K.) and they keep sendin’ out great dub/dubstep tunes – all freely downloadable. Here’s their catalogue.
